java - Do we need mahout and hadoop on same machine? -


i trying build recommendation engine using mahout, hadoop , java. first time working hadoop, getting data sets server hadoop installed linux enviroment. development environment windows, need install mahout in development environment or server? if need mahout on development environment need install hadoop in it?

if don't have hadoop on machine, mahout run in pseudo-distributed mode on current machine.

nonetheless, windows , hadoop don't each other, , depending on mahout version (more hadoop dependency has), run issue (link). issue present hadoop 0.20.204 onwards (although must admit don't know if has been fixed on latest version of hadoop)
