i have downloaded css file off html5reset use starter set of css. looking through coding, find there statements start *, eg. *vertical-align. have never met before. mean?

it's hack.

versions 7 , below of internet explorer recognize properties preceded non-alphanumeric characters except underscore or hyphen (after discarding prefix). other browsers ignore such properties invalid. therefore, property preceded non-alphanumeric character other underscore or hyphen, such asterisk, applied exclusively in internet explorer 7 , below.
